FRANCE LAB 1 & 2 from 1993. French flag. Unit price VAT paid in France.
FRANCE LAB 1 and FRANCE LAB 2 are boats whose history is closely linked to the America's Cup. Built at the request of Marc PAJOT for the French Challenge, the FRANCE LABs were used as laboratory boats to develop the two America's Cup class boats that participated in the 1995 America's Cup in San Diego. Stiff to the sail, fast, and elegant, these 3T yachts (including 2T in the bulb!) are the ideal support for team building operations, a yacht club, or simply for having fun on the water. Owned by Team France until 1996, they were acquired and renovated by their new owner in 2005 and presented at the Grand Pavois 2013 for their 20th anniversary. Designed by the French architect Philippe BRIAND, the LABs were built on a ½ scale to test the technical options that would be implemented on their bigger brothers, thus developing the FRANCE 1 and FRANCE 2 yachts of the America's Cup class. This strategy by the French Challenge makes FRANCE LAB 1 and FRANCE LAB 2 the only ½ scale America's Cup class yachts in the world to this day. As collectible yachts, the FRANCE LABs have been classified as French Maritime Heritage since June 2010. Restored for their 20th anniversary in 2013, the FRANCE LABs are in perfect condition and ready to sail.
Viewing by appointment.
